Love is the power podcast

65. I want it just the way it is

Episode Notes

“I want things to be different than the way they are.” Is that true? We’ve long experimented with wanting things to be different as a path to a better, fuller, more peaceful life, but have we ever stopped to question how that’s been working for us? This week’s meditation invites us to see why we might be compelled to hold onto this ineffective tendency or tactic. Perhaps holding on allows us to feel anger or demonstrate that we care. Perhaps it defends us against having to let something “ugly” in, whether that’s fear or the fact that we’re not doing a single thing to make things “better.” What happens when we try on the experience “I want things to be exactly as they are?” It may feel like sanity, a sane mind. It may be the kindest, most peaceful way to live.
