When we experience negative emotions, our habit is to resist. We do The Work, or whatever other practice we have in our toolkit, to get rid of our stressful stories and beliefs. But, what if we welcomed them instead? In this episode, Tom proposes a new way to meet our inner disturbances—that is, through conscious welcoming. This is likely a foreign concept for many of us. It may be challenging to even begin to approach. If that is the case, try picturing the negative image-story as a child. Then, welcome the precious child, with no agenda to change or fix it. There’s nothing to do here but purely welcome.
